...big cat...

...big cat...

A Poem by dovetailer
"

...resist the urge to pet...

"

big cat

it stretches its long muscled back

supine and serene in the hot sun…

claws sheathed at the ready

when cued

to rend flesh to the bone…

long tail twitching back and forth…

with long rough tongue

grooms golden fur

stained red with  the blood of prey…

the weak serving the whims of the strong

life’s reality…

content to languish shaded from the heat

throaty purr rattles

and intermittent snarls warn all without heart

to keep at bay...

watching over its pride of kits…

a perfect balance of beauty and grace and feral nature

cold comely eyes with slit pupils

gaze and dismiss

as if to say “your time will come…

but not today..."

I love cats, and the lines "the weak serving the whims of the strong life’s reality…", "gaze and dismiss as if to say “your time will come…but not today..."
Just to the beauty of cats.
