Xue looked down at the bundle she held. She had survived the war, the famine, and the disease. The Japanese beasts had been destroyed, their country burned, their soldiers killed or imprisoned. There was only one thing left to do. She cast the bundle into the river. His father wasn’t human and neither was he.
