The Flood

The Flood

Still here
Where you left me all those months ago
Waiting
To move when you give the word
Go

Pacing
In my mind without leaving my chair
Bracing
Myself for the call that never comes
Face it
I’m alone with time again tonight
And we’re both getting
Wasted
And we both have you to thank

Hate me
I beg you so that this will end
I hate you
But my hands are nailed to your floor
You got caught in bed with yourself again
While I grasped at an hourglass
Trying to stop the sand

Bad luck
From the mirrors that I broke
When I look at myself I see you with a leash
I’m so sick
Of feeling like I can never be clean
And this s**t
Is going to end like an overlong dream
I’ll forget all those years filled
With nothing but the damp

But when clouds build
The man in the sand eating
Twigs from the ground
Faces heaven
And soaks in the rain
No matter how many times he was drowning
No matter how long he’s hidden the pain
