Huntington's Disease

          Waking on a sunny day

Renewing the cycle again

                    Upsetting the cycle again

Attempting to break the cycle

Climbing

Rising

Accelerating

Nearing the top

Reaching for the sickle low in the sky

Helping hand, grab a hold, touch the skies above

Fall

                    Slowing down, sliding down again

          Brought back down

By the cycle

          Cold again

Sunny still, but lively no longer

                    Hopeful no longer

          Heart pounding no longer

Numb

          Brought down again

     By the cycle

But no longer

Too long now

I’m too familiar

     This road is too home

I know it too well

I can break this world and start anew

          I can break this cycle

And I will take the road I have not traveled by

And it will make all the difference

     Spark

Silhouette in the window

          Figure, posed

                    Hunched over a lighter

You view the dark side

          Of renewal

Let him breathe

  Let him smile

    Let him stumble

      Let him sleep

        Let him learn for himself

That he cannot break the cycle

Breathing, wheezing

Coughing

Coughing

                                  Collapse

     Let the sickle slip away

To him it seems to rise

But others see that it is still

               And he who slides

          Brought back down

     By the cycle

  a n d  i n  m y search

         i will outwalk t h e furthest city lights

    a n d find that i t  i s dark there a s well

Undeterred

     I rise again

          And face a new morning

     Blurry

          Cold

               Windswept

Hostile to the pilgrim who must endure it for a while

Let me wander

  Let me tire

    Let me ache from hunger

      Let me miss my home

      Let me age

    Let me corrode

Let me die upon the road

Let the cycle do its work

            deeper, farther, longer, wander

      still i rise again a t night

           a n d glimpse t h e sickle a n d  t h e stars a n d  t h e path beyond

       a n d still ! flow back down

                 t o where i came from

   where ! belong

     Deeper, deeper, wheezing breathing

Dying as I try to climb the cycle

       i  a m acquainted with t h e night

           b u t  i cannot stay f 0 r l0ng

      t h e cl0ck’s hands grab hold

             a n d drag m e d0wn with them

Try again, rise again

Fall

     faster, slower, breathing

in, out, in, out, in, in, in, out
