Plato Believed

Plato Believed

A Poem by Drowning In Reality

Plato Believed

Plato believed

That knowledge

Was recollection

Of previous existence

Epiphanies were memories

Of lessons learned

Long ago

Before we were

Who we are now

To remember

Our personal mysteries

We must turn within

And remember

What was

Beyond normal perception

Piaget taught

Through drawing forth

Innate knowledge

Held within

Each of us

He took from Plato

And applied it

To education

And proved him right

Democritus reasoned us

Into the atomic age

Empedocles reasoned

Love holds us together

Is what we know

A product of our imaginations

Or product of cellular memory

Memes inhaled into our brains

I sit and wonder

Trying to remember

Wishing I could see

Past the dark in my cave
