give me a chance

give me a chance

A Poem by B. Bishop
"

i thought taking over the world was going to be a lot easier!!!

"

Hear are the tears that I’ve never cried, I’ve lied, I’ve cried them many times

they’ve developed, they’ve pooled, they’ve charged like a mustang down to the bottom of my nose
Can you suppose that the pain inside of me grows
Look at me now do you like the disguise that I’ve chose

Look at me now like I remember you back than
Back when I tried but failed horribly at making amends

I’m left on this bridge that slowly crumbles beneath my feet
Take a seat, it’s free, you can witness my defeat

This is the smile that I’ve never revealed before
you’ve passed me a glance and passionately asked me to dance
So I put your hand in mine and walked out onto the floor
Cherish this nevermore, who’s that knocking on my door
Are you the one responsible for making me sweat from every pore

I believe you are, I mean, would you at least like the job
I seem to be free next Friday let me pencil you in on the dot
I’ve loved and I’ve lost
All the lines have been crossed
So all that’s left for me now is to earn what it will cost

Although I want to pretend that its gone I seem to have to much baggage in my life
Are you willing to take me anyway, are you willing to run with the dice
Are you willing to hold me inside your arms no matter the price

I hurt and I’ve hurt, I see and been seen
This movie is playing out and you stand in the middle of the screen
To you this is news
So you still have the right to choose
Think it over in your dreams till you wake up from your mid day snooze

It appears to me that it is to good to be true
A shot to left field, you appeared from out of the blue

Trust your heart and your eyes when you catch me in your gaze
Absorb me with passion like you absorb the suns rays
In more than one way
By the end of the day
I’ll lift you off your feet and guide you straight through this maze

The minutes will pass and the seconds will blind
A rare unforeseen treasure that’s still found in design
When its for back up you call, when your forced away from the wall
I’ll approach from behind, for your heart I will find
This time is still young
On the tip of your tongue
I’ll kiss you goodnight
I’ll bid you farewell
My hearts always been right and now the games have just begun

I really like the kind of off-meter you are using here - some of the lines will rhyme and others don't. I also like the content and the message of the poem, if in fact there is a message to be drawn from it. What I really like about poetry is that there are so many ways to interpret it, and each interpretation is different for each person.

Great job! I look forward to reading more! :)

'Can you suppose
Do you like the disguise that I've chose' This part just sounds very awkward. Do you read your poems out loud? Some of the rhymes are a little obvious like blind, kind...The best part is this line 'they've developed, they've pooled, they've charged like a mustang down to the bottom of my nose.' I like the idea of the poem. I think it just needs a little bit of polish. Good stuff.

What a vibrant anecdote! You have a way with words and the twists and turns in this piece kept me on my toes! Something tells me if "Given the chance" you would charm your way out of anything! Reading this made me smile and take notice!
