Ash's Song

Ash's Song

A Poem by Matt Artis
"

I wrote this for my wife.

"

Ash's Song

Self-hatred was your only emotion

Thrown out Time and Time again

Just like the weekly Trash

Believing that you were failure reincarnate

Blinded by the lies, and deaf to the truth

Always knowing that something better existed

But never Believing

You were dying to live, but living to die

Looking for love in all the wrong places

You soon found the kiss of the blade

To be more passionate than that of a lover

Wishing for purpose to make existence meaningful

Until, while strolling through the "Blue-Nowhere"

You happened across Salvation, Reason for hope

The Baggage of your past removed

Easing the burden of existing

The warmth of flowing blood was

Soon replaced with the warmth of a loving embrace

Realization that this was not a hallucination

Set you free from your prison of despair

With me outside waiting to say…

"This is for Eternity"
