The Runaway Bride

The Runaway Bride

A Poem by drunkenmusic

Estranged heart,
that beat to the rhythm of the
raindrops that drenched her floor-length white gown,
as she ran away from her fairy tale,
using her veil as a sail,
and selling the ring to buy a pair of wings,
and fly away to the realm
where dreams came true,
a place where she didn't have a grand castle,
or a tall fearsome knight,
but a place where she could
tear off that gown
that had been weighing her down,
a place where she could finally
soar to the heights
she was meant to.
