Omens

Bad omens
They hide in the shadows
They lurk on passerby's
Bad omens

They wait and wait
For that one person
Once they find them
They strike

They strike on the innocent
The children who shouldn't know pain
The happy children
The ones that shouldn't change

The bad omen will latch onto them
And weigh them down
They will stay at the top of their shoulders
And wait

They wait
Until they are at their worst
Their weakest point
Then, they strike on the last time

Hello, Dylan; and welcome to the Writers' Cafe. Poetry is a wonderful form of expression, particularly when you don't have anyone else to turn to. I have always called it "therapeutic purification;" and over the years, it has helped me immensely. I can tell from this poem that you are an intuitive young man, and I think that will be more developed with time, as with your poetry. Keep feeding that fire, and it will burn.
