Peace at Last

Peace at Last

A Poem by Liz-z
"

Peace at Last

"

I held your hand as you close your eyes
You left us here
With no tear in your eye
The pain is relieved
And a smile is lifted
You are gone
Up in the heavens

Your funeral will bring us

Closer than before
Especially now
We need this more than ever.

Your sisters and husband

they hold back the tears
your brother and daughters
the cry at your sight
just like me
they are all grateful.

This place you lived in

wasn’t for you
it wasn't where you belonged
Two years of this cold handed battle
and we'll sit here
because you've finally won.

Very serene poem. Really sad but quite sweet. The duality of loss and acceotance of loss is present everywhere here. Loved it. Really good poem.

So sad, I'm sorry for your loss. A very peaceful poem though.
