Life Without You

My brother was murdered the day before his 25th birthday so i wrote this for the one year anniversary of his death at the end of the month.

I now close my eyes to gaze into yours

Bask in silence to hear your laugh

How do you describe this awful reality?

Or walk this somber path

 

I open my soul to feel your touch

Suffocate in pain my every breath

My existence is defined by your absence

The emptiness is what I have left

 

I now scar deeper instead of healing

But this is proof of a bond unbroken

I will forever love and miss you

Carrying your memory as our love’s token

 

A brother like you was truly a gift

Even through death it still lives strong

So I dedicate my life to you

For the both of us I will go on

 

So smile while you watch over us

And don’t worry when we cry

Our tears are proof of what we had

It was just too soon to say goodbye
