On Music

A Poem by ed purchla

Dear entropy, please take my hearing last,
For it's music that has gotten me through.
Melody, rhythm, vocals, harmony's cast,
They've all been with me since I left the womb.

My eyes have seen a magnificent world,
But can't fill my heart with euphoria.
I could smell a thousand Lilacs unfurled,
Still, music heals without aporia.

Though the taste of food can be a delight,
'Gainst music, a candle cannot be held.
Having weathered my adolescent strife,
Such an eternal debt can't be fulfilled.

If I'm lucky, if entropy complies,
Music will be with me until I die.
