Primed for SinA Poem by ElllllieA poem about a girl finding her way in the world that rhymes a lot
When she took a glance in someone's direction
and her mind swirled with conflicted perplexion of their luminous smile and flawless complexion lead her to this affection It was affection she did not want The feelings she had caught Were more than a lot Yet she was not distraught Yes, it was wrong by what everyone said And what her parents said was over her head She wanted to believe and yet instead She danced around whatever they said A crush was weak, Something she could easily defeat But could she really delete The one thing that made her feel complete Because when this someone was to laugh She laughed too hard as her safety raft As if her laughs were choreographed But they were on her own behalf At the extent of sounding cliche because her admitting her feelings would be a disgrace Love is so special yet so mundane You can't hold a hand if you're feeling afraid Who has the power to assign Which love will flourish and which must die? Small minds like those are the people who get to decide They get a front row to the murder of those who don't qualify She was destined to conform To the agreed upon norm To the point that the mask she adorned Was tattered and deformed She didn't know who she was supposed to be Except for a victim of normalcy Her parents made her a guarantee That with the lack of her thoughts she'd be happy To be sent away in isolation Took no persuasion Her mind bared it's abrasions Her mind was invaded by Satan That was the accusation And yet nothing changed As hours turned to days And every night she'd pray and pray Her ugly thoughts were go away She was a liar though When she sat down to pray, she was preparing for a show Her thoughts were no ugly, nor something she'd outgrow They were just a sinful tornado Her thoughts didn't wander And she never once pondered That through all of this she was not the monster But to who to give that honor? They blamed it on Satan, they blamed it on God They once even told her she was made all wrong When she'd believe for even a second long She'd think of her someone's laughter and she'd be strong When she got out and took her lovers hand They'd move far away to distance farmlands And she'd go to her parents who misunderstand Give them a hug, just because she can So determined to carry out her ruse She got out of that place with no time to lose She was about to see her muse But then she got the news A knife, a tub and a suicide note covered in blood so she couldn't even quote the beautiful words that her lover once wrote Drowned and drained, no longer afloat They called it a blessing Without ever addressing The feelings she was repressing They were much too depressing She felt it was a personal attack Of course it had to happen the second she came back At the funeral, the only one in black Her emotions strutted around like acrobats One year later, the most ironic Her mother dressed in purple reading Shakespearean Sonnets She said her vows completely robotic And kissed the man who had her locked as a promise Tears she passed as joy as he took of her veil Managed a laugh while she talked and drank a cocktail Her life was left hallowed, her heart was impaled All because she fell in love with a female
