Cancer doesn't ask how old you are or what you had for breakfast
it doesn't stop to take in how you look today
and think "my don't you look good, have you lost weight?"
it doesn't discriminate but that doesn't mean it plays fair
it'll steal the ribbons from your hair without even a care
take you around the block once or twice
maybe another trip around the sun
then tell you you're ready now
it's done
mind your breath on the way out
count every one

The truth of this is horrific, painful; in fact, 'evil' isn't a strong enough word. Cancer come, often stays, leaves too many scars mentally and physically. No, cancer doesn't care a wit about your life or plans...it'll steal ribbons...looks...peace of mind...like the thief it is.
One thing though, cancer has no friends.
Wonderfully written piece about our old antagonist.
cancer has no feelings...no sympathy, no empathy...it just eats away in its own sweet time...and
does its thing...we have to make the most of the time left...and those around the person have to savor each moment as well.
very sad piece.
