Death is Fleeting

Death is Fleeting

A Poem by papaed
"

Contest entry for Tovli's ten. On the brevity of our lives.

"

I look up and contemplate my death

AM I to know that coming moment

A release; a loss of breath

MAN tries to make life rhyme

IN the search finds joy and torment

LOVE lubricates this trip through time

WITH a mate I smile toward the end

THE memories of moments spent

SETTING milestones as I ascend

STARS persist; remain constant

this is very spiritual dear Poet! Death, our Immortal Creditor will surly come for us sooner or later and hopefully taking me by surprise...

A beautiful introspective poem. Death can be both frightening and fascinating but like you said, facing it with a mate makes it a little easier.

Only a fool would not ponder about his own mortality.

the stars remaining constant says it all really...Mortal man will always wonder with both fear and wonder AT his own mortality

I love the flow and the sentence downward structure. Most of all, I love the raw honesty and questions. This is a delicate piece and I enjoyed it.

Wow. So beautiful! A unique statement of "I am a man in love with the setting stars".
Truly that death is inevitable. Many people are afraid of losing their lives. But some are ready to face it and consider it as a breif and momentary event that one should not be afraid of.

So clever, Papaed. :)

I love the part about stars. They are Gods glory clock and as a whole they keep perfect time.
