Two precious moments with my granddaughter

"

FAITH IN THE MORNING

A local fresh peach diced

1 1/2 cups of my favorite cereal

large mug of slightly sweetened coffee

early fall chill in the air

I sit on pillowed wicker

sunrise yellow descends the tree tops

the earth fills my senses

three-year-old Faith just awake with hair askew

in warm sleeper and bottle in hand

bursts out the door with pouty lips

I pull her onto my lap

her head on my shoulder

no words are needed as we rock slowly

peace and love fill my spirit

FAITH NEEDS

sitting with old friends

in shelter house shade

folding chairs facing lake

food, drink, loud playing surrounds

old ladies hovering at picnic tables

swatting flies from food

three-year-old Faith

runs to me baby talking, regressing

clearly older kids and noise

have threatened her

“Papa!  Let me ride your back!”

I excuse myself and scoop her up

carried to water’s edge, talking to ducks

we make and wear a clover headdress

acorn hat on thumb with penned face

talking and nodding in falsetto voice

laughing with joy, threat forgotten

a beautiful, delicious hope-of-future

living in the present

They were both great but my favorite has to be (FAITH IN THE MORNING), any great poem or story immerses the reader into the mind of the author, the reader seeing and feeling exactly what the author seen and felt, thank you for letting me share that wonderful precious moment with you, Andy.

Hey, I liked this ...to the point of suggesting more FAITH in the future, it's so expandable.
Great job, a feel-good amidst this site's share of chaos, no?

Thanks for sharing!

Two beautiful cameos. Simple and wonderful scenes, filled with contentment. Enjoy, My Friend. But I see you do!

Glad I dropped by. All the best!

You're very lucky to have such a beautiful granddaughter. Each poem is a peek into a stranger's life and yet with envy we see an ideal scenario that fills us with a happy feeling. Nicely done on both poems.
