Alone in the World

Alone in the World

A Poem by papaed
"

Using one dozen words for Tovli

"

I watched the idiot take out his camera,

stand on a large round stone,

and pose his family in front of their car.

The photo frame will have no rocks,

no sand, no wharf, and no ocean.

Maybe he knows he could have

taken it in his driveway.

His clan follows him to the bait shop.

He pays the flat charge

for a bucket of bait, a pole, and a reel

He pushes a button and shoulders a radio.

The the Beach Boys falsetto vocal tones

drown out the surf and conversation.

I don’t feel I can spend my day here.

I keep my reasons to myself as I gather my gear

and walk past the family all alone on the wharf.

I see a hidden fisherman and some one whom only feels free with the rip and turn of a fishing pole. I like this because it is a truth that makes one think.
