The Pessimist

The Pessimist

A Poem by W. C. Forrest

The laborious existence of wronged life,

And stray love of deplorable essence,

Empty vivacity in longing eyes,

The robust one shrieking in everlasting dark descent

All is illusion, all works of wonder,

The alluring art but a mode of escapism,

They say beauty lies in eye of beholder,

But I am stuck in deep claws of scepticism

Their smiles in depravity to me is perplexing,

Their persistence to fight destiny absurd,

Even pitying them is so emotionally taxing,

Fools, accept fate or you will go berserk

Spare your soul the torture of hope,

Here hypocrites rule and honourable fail,

Continuance belief in good but a joke,

Getting expectation battered is all it will entail

They call me pessimist for no reasons,

My inferences have a healthy stand,

You will preach my words like sermons,

For I am nothing but a practical man

this poem relates to my state of mind...never was a pessimist...but the state of the world, of life, of my own...lends itself to losing optimism as things just seem to be going in the wrong direction.
well said, W.C.

It's like a pendulum, swings both sides and equal distances. Lots of promise here, Eeshan, lots of promise. You tapped my senses. Your observations are profound, practical man.
