Above & Beneath

Above & Beneath

A Poem by Bee

Walking on the road, in between the trees, heading past those gates, sitting on my knees.

Rejected or accepted? I sit before you a lonely shell. A hollow corpse, I lack expression, I lack emotion.

And like a young child, I ask if I disappointed you, that wasn't my intention, oh please let me through!

I failed to be a whole person, it was decided I'd be half, please don't harm me in your humor as I wasn't taught to laugh.

Everyday I shrivel, a little more each time,

I look you in the eyes and wonder how murder is a crime.

Entering the room I smell death, shivering in a corner.

Growing old, it only diminishes as we get older.

I look the devil in the eyes, blank, as I wasn't taught to smile, wasn't taught to cry, but I can fight for just a while.

And as I inhale the pure cold air, I find that pain is just an emotion worth the spare, life can be repaired, yet not fixed.

And I am alive, but seize to exist.
