A Poem by eglantine

Today is a day for naps,
green tea lattes and a twine
bookmark tucked inside The Bell Jar.

You gather rain in your breath--
    I hear you singing,
    wringing out your voice
    on the front porch

as I write next to window-light
about espresso and yew trees.

Faint shadows lace the walls,
    they hint at hallelujah

and your cedar voice
draws my pen from the page.

green tea lattes are so yummy. and the belljar is lovely. the images that this brought into my mind just made me smile because they sound a bit like heaven to me. this whole thing was an easy and simple portrayal of a happiness and a little comfortable romance. these lines particularly stood out to me:

"Faint shadows lace the walls,
they hint at hallelujah"

beautiful! i love that image of shadows lacing the walls. i'm glad you posted a new piece- i always love your writing!

I have a signed copy of The Bell Jar, signed by Ted Hughes, it is one of my dearest materialistic owns. That and a Salinger first edition of Franny and Zooey. So dearest, I am hoping you are well and happy. You know, what I always like about you is that even your fastest write-outs, your juvenilia, is a delight. I believe you to be organic, constantly in evolution. Make yourself heard, all over the world.

Your poetic voice is unbearably beautiful. Delicate, soft but profound. You say so much without saying. I love your style. Kudos!

Thank you Mark
'Faint shadows lace the walls,

Resonates with me as someone who has passed on, being revisited in daydreams, perhaps that's just my vision...like the Plath note. Enjoyed this one.
