House on a Hill

House on a Hill

A Poem by Elana Juli Royson
"

"Some people live in a house on a hill and wish they were someplace else..." -Vanessa Carlton

"

A house on a hill

Six chairs for dining

One bed for sleeping.

A hill reaching for the sky

Holding one house

Holding thousands of dreams.

A sky just out of reach

One poet gazing

One moon inspiring.

A house on a hill

Ten rooms to be filled

Thousands of secrets unshared.

A silent barren hill

Supporting one dreamer

Hearing her secrets.

A sky watching below

Billions of stars flee

One lonely home left to stand.

A house on a hill

One mug grows cold, not drunk.

One life goes unlived, alone.
