the solitary tree

the solitary tree

A Poem by Zoe

i sit in that
field of corn
knee high
(by fourth of july)
with music in my head and watching
those damn clouds
go by.
we used to drive for the hell of it
just to create memories for those songs
i always got the highest harmony
"i need a big love"
and i do.
i'm making conversations
with the wind
and for once i wish
i had a house by the freeway
so i could sit with my back against that lonely
twisted
tree and
watch the cars go by.
guessing stories and
tail lights
and i wish,
i wish it was a small world.
i'm going to have to rely on clouds
instead of cars
now that you're gone.
you know there will always be clouds
when the stories run out.

I liked this. There was sadness to it. Because of the lonelyness. To sit under an old tree like that and dream would be great.
Thank you Andrew
