The Lie and The Truth

The Lie and The Truth

A Poem by elektrikstar
"

how I write autobiographically

"

I looked in the mirror cause I forgot who I was

But your grin was wide so you must like the mask I’m wearing dear

You gotta wonder if were all just Cirumstance’s victims

Or maybe were our own, ‘cause I chose to be here

Well I can sell you a perfect picture

And I an be a girl who’s got it together

But that’s only cause I’m such a good liar

I’m almost human enough to not be monster

Spent my whole life hunting boogeymen

Always wondered if they’d be afraid of me

And my conscience won’t quit so it’s paper to pen

To write all the things I’ll never share and the me you won’t know

But I can sell you a perfect picture

And I can be a girl who’s got it all together

All because I’m such a good liar

I’m almost human enough to not be monster

Instead of claws I have a tongue

Like sharp teeth my words tear

I’d say I am ashamed but hey only so many lies in a day

And my limit is near

Still I’ll sell you a perfect picture

And I”ll be a girl that’s got it all together

But I’ll still always be less human than monster
