A Girl is a Garden

A Girl is a Garden

A Poem by Ella Simone

A Girl is a Garden

I took scissors to the strings of my heart

And let them turn brittle and black

That way I’d never fall apart

Since I’d lost what I couldn’t get back

I cursed my bones and everything inside

My poisoned body, stuffed with cyanide

But a girl is a garden

Meant to come to fruition

Perhaps my heart had hardened

But I it thawed through attrition.

I cleared my cortex of its coal

And found gems buried beneath

Watered the soil of my soul

And took it out of its sheath

I let elation emerge and dread dissipate

Finally, I was ready for a life to decorate

I’ve sailed the seas of sadness

And found my way to shore

My greatest hope is to send a boat

To someone who needs it more

Lovely message here and put across in an original way on the importance of not only taking care of ourselves but of patience with ourselves also. Very enjoyable
