Granted

Granted

A Poem by EmeraldFacet

I've been well acquainted with every hour of the night
Sometimes sobbing sometimes shaking
Never in anothers arms, I found myself quaking
Nursed my heart with each dark shade of fright
Waited alone in dispair for every break of light
To an unknown end, I found myself racing
Could not outrun, your haunting always chasing

I borrowed the twinkle from the stars
To burry them inside my eyes
And asked the sun to enlighten me
Like she does to the moon in the skies
Countless requests I made for the wind to blow
From my grip the tightly held sorrow
Looked to the clouds both opaque and transparent
With humility I pleaded to cleanse me of this heavy impairment
And from the Stillness I asked for just one favor
To remind me; only I can be my one true savior

Hour by hour
And often between minutes
The taste of you began to sour
My threshold for destruction reached its limits
I wagered with God
For the memories to end
Until one day it came true
My wish was no more to remember
I finally wished to stop aching
For you

About
I believe that embers of the past have just enough potential to start a fire in our soul, enableing each one of us to, not become great for ourselves, but rather to do something great for someone else.. more..
