Because of you, I didn't get a childhood

Because of you, I didn't get a childhood

A Poem by emilie
"

*TRIGGER WARNING: RAPE/MOLESTATION/SEXUAL ABUSE AND ASSAULT* in a few words, what my sexual abuser did to my self-image.

"
You robbed me of my innocence,
and took advantage of my inability to defend myself
I could not have stopped you,
nor could I have known to do anything about it
And, yet, here I am, years later,
feeling as though I was at fault
And completely disgusted and embarrassed by myself
You took more than my innocence-
You took any chance I had at ever loving myself

ignore grammar, format, etc.
this is just something i wrote really quickly after an hour therapy session discussing my abuse, therefore i payed no attention to how i wrote it, or even what exactly i wrote.. i just wrote what i was thinking.

I can offer no words of comfort except to say that you write your thoughts perfectly and your words have great effect on an empathetic heart. I admire your courage to tell your story and wish you well on your journey towards learning to love yourself.

I was hurt sexually as a child too, and it never goes away. People who haven't been through it don't understand. But it ISN'T our fault. It is no one's fault but the sick people who victimized us.
I don't love myself either, though... I can relate all too well.
