In The People

In The People

A Poem by Emily Sutliff

It’s funny how known we are.

How much we are able to know each other without knowing anything.

Have you ever thought about how many strangers’ pictures you’re in the background of?

How many days you made by being yourself?

An employee at a store you encountered three years ago still remembers how you appreciated their service.

We have unbelievable impacts on each other.

We’re all a little quirky and we’ve all got a lot of stuff;

but what real magic is that we have the power to make people feel.

We have the power to make them feel better by simply sitting next to them

and not saying a single word.

What power we have.
