Two Plastic Chairs

Two Plastic Chairs

A Poem by Lyall28
"

Whilst walking along a river, I came across a woman sitting alone in her garden.

"
Two plastic chairs sit in a garden.
One empty and
One just feels that way.

Head cocked, she listens to the space where there used to be two.
He’s gone for a moment, his cup of tea left waiting.
For how many moments has she waited too?

He left so here she stays,
Here where his echo aches.
She has nowhere else to go,
He has left and she can’t follow

Chairs angled from the view, choosing instead the garden they grew.
Frozen in memory, a lifetime only she can see.
Living a conversation for two, she knows her lines and knows his too

He left so here she stays,
Here where her ache echoes.
She has nowhere else to go,
Watching Time and the river flow.

Two plastic chairs sit in a garden.
She faces the empty space beside her,
Better than facing the emptiness inside her.
