A Gentleman's Breakfast through Time

A Gentleman's Breakfast through Time

A Poem by emptyinkwell
"

A vintage soul against the present-day scene.

"
Hot coffee, dark roast, black
And an order of bacon and eggs, extra bacon, extra crispy
Thank you, good day.

Ma'am I know the sign says no smoking
But I'm out here on the patio
All alone
May I light one cigar?

The bacon is great, thank you.
Do you serve Scotch at this time of day?
I could really use a Johnnie Walker Double Black.

Where can I get a newspaper?
I don't care particularly for politics
I just want to see the funnies.

Here stupid pigeon, have the damn bacon.

Where did I put my sunglasses?
And why can't I find my parasol today?

Yes, yes, Tokyo, I'll Skype you in.

Contrasts of time. Comparison between then and now. Change, changes everything. Apparently, everything was intended to continue as is. Traditions erode slowly at first, almost without perception. Marching forward, huge chunks crumble away, lost to time.
