Blanche

Blanche

A Poem by Emunah June.
"

Loosely based on "A Streetcar Named Desire"

"
Drive me home on an empty road
In an old time streetcar with secrets in the seats
and when I press my head against the glass,
do not wake me, just tell me it's raining again.

Open the window to let in a fantasy's gale
and what it expand to fill the empty niches
like a liar's concrete.
Whisk away the oxygen on a cold Autumn evening.

But when the tires roam past the garden of the dead,
lift me up and open the door so I can step outside
and get my bearings temporarily
so I can find a place called home among the wicked.
