A Golden Farewell

A Golden Farewell

A Poem by Enthusiast
"

Thinking of "yellow".

"

 why is it
that the amber leaves
of autumn
remind me
of the first golden
sunrays
of spring?

sunflowers
heavy from seed
bow
to the lush bounty
of a blond wheat field
ready for harvest

nature is drunk
from the intoxicating
scent of ripe lemons

the xanthous sun sets heavy
over the ochre horizon
waving her last
canary good-byes of the season

I create another memory
as timeless and precious as saffron spice
that will cast its warming glow onto my heart
long after the
autumnal equinox has passed

the time has come
to say
goodbye

Thanks for entering my contest! =D
I loved your poem; so many different ways of saying yellow!
Thanks for taking the time to write a new poem as well. I appreciate it!
