Poetry As a Potion

Poetry As a Potion

A Poem by E.P. Robles
"

This poem portrays the act of creating poetry as a nearly divine process.

"
A POEM, however short expands thought and time
written by pen, seems no miracle;  but first...
unwritten and there within the mind it seems
out of reach of God ...

AS ART -- we undo the mundane of everyday Life
as what everything is and is not

As a poet you cannot undo cliches
but chosen words devour simple life

And there, oh there we squeeze hearts
within the Minds of wonderous Souls!

There is something wonderful about taking the mundane and turning it poetic. I thought of gasometers near the marina where I spend time boating. By day they stand squat and ugly, but at sunset they become bronzed and proud and are something else altogether. I just had to poem them.

I like the idea of squeezing hearts with poetry.

Very engaging, and how it lures your readers to the liminal...

"but chosen words devour simple life" perhaps the inscription for my final stone's inscription. such a gigantic metaphor for the art of writing. yes, yes indeed, the poem, your poem, expands thought and time, opens up the universal can of worms and invites the reader to a grand spot of idle fishing, trouts looking for rainbows. Very much enjoyed the read EP

my favorite line..."As a poet you cannot undo cliches/ but chosen words devour simple life"

and yes, we try to take the mundane and make it poetic...how often we succeed, who knows?

It is as if each word is its own life? Yes? And a sentence: generations!
