When Everything Becomes Old

When Everything Becomes Old

A Poem by E.P. Robles

When everything becomes old
and all that is new becomes
elite
That all which happens is
a hand in two and lips and
lies are two in one
Then once was precious is
a down and life is looking
around for a shout for
something more -- then
the sun and moon are dull
and the spirit and soul
are running around ; looking
for something true.
Then the world leaves.
  And trees die.
And oceans shudder
coming ashore in sunder.
That which was less
becomes the greater
and lies abide in coffins
and fair maidens in hats.
