Flying

Flying

A Poem by Ellie_the_Traveler

I want to fade

Dissolve into mist

No past and no present

This pain I won’t miss

The future is a burden

I don’t wish to bear

Just let me withdraw

Let me not care

Here I have lingered

For those who’d notice

I wish they’d move on

I crave oblivion’s bliss

And now I resent

These people that I love

For being my border

When I wish to dissolve

I cannot find peace

Just this eternal torment

So many ways I’ve tried

Begged the demons to relent

When the dark parts

And I feel the light

Lifting stones from my burden

Until I could fly

But inevitably I crash

Back down to the earth

Shatter my bones

And relive all the hurt

Last week I was flying

But then I fell

Now the bones must mend

Slow healing in hell

I am so lost

And stuck in this place

What is the point?

I’m just taking up space

Something must change

Soon comes a time

Where I’ll break these bones

One final time
