Mystic Wilderness

Tuleal! Wake up, one of the elders urged. They are her, and they are asking to see you.

Tuleal awoke and gathered himself and his belongings that he would need. He knew that they would want to set up right away.

When he arrived at the meeting hall, he was greeted by what seemed like an army of Americans. The one who caught his attention; however, was a beautiful, tall, dark-haired woman. She could see him staring and introduced herself as Lorane.

Tuleal could speak English fluently. This is whys he is to be called the chosen one from his community. This place consists of only about eight-hundred people, but is a country in itself.

Lorane asks Tuleal where they can set up and how soon? She is very excited and has been reading and studying on this event for two years.

Tuleal asks if he could offer them some of their traditional black tea and go over some of the rules and give some background and more insight on the event. He did not think they really knew what they were getting themselves into.

They each took an Indian-style seat around a table outside on the ground, which had a tent style net over top. Tuleal began by telling them some history of how this spectacular event began.

It was about seven years ago when it first came to us, and we feel so blessed. It is like nothing the human eye has ever seen before. It is a beauty beyond imagination. I believe it is only a beauty delivered by God almighty.

Lorane, getting overly excited burst out in a screech that showed her anticipation. She calmed herself enough to plead with Tuleal to take them there. He responded by telling her the time is not right, but soon.

Lorane could see the sparkle in his eye when he spoke. She could tell it completely takes his breath away, and she wanted to feel that too. She could hardly wait any longer.

Tuleal went on to tell the story. Everyone was sitting around the camp as they always do.. It was around 5:20 p.m. on the 20th of July. It has been the same day, same time every year. It starts on the 20th and lasts for fifteen days.

Everyone was finishing there tea, which was quiet good. The head of the operation suggested that they should rally be on there way to set up their station; however, Tuleal had a different idea. He made them aware that the date was only the 18th day of the month. He invited them to stay in the community to get aquatinted until the early morning of the 20th. He would then take them to set up a station at an optimal site. He told them they would be more comfortable staying with them for a day and a half. They all agreed because they had just traveled so far, and they were so exhausted. The thought of rest seemed to please the all, even Lorane.

As they prepared the tents for rest, Lorane noticed that there was a calm and serene feeling all through the air. Lorane was the only female that came with the Americans so she got a tent all to herself. She was pleased with the accommodations. There was plenty of room to not feel all closed in. there was even a table with an old dusty mirror, it was as if this tribe knew exactly what she could like to have. The cot was raised slightly off the floor so as to not gather much dust as she slept. At one of the tables there was a was basin to was for eating and to prepare herself in the morning. She said her thank you and said goodnight. She lay on her cot and thought about the long and tiring day she had just had. It was just now catching up with her because the excitement over this experience had kept her adrenaline so high.

The others set up tents surrounding Lorane’s tent, the manly thing to do they all thought. Michael, the second in command, came to Lorane’s tent. He called her name and asked if he could step in for a moment, she agreed. As soon as he walked in she started talking about how beautiful the night sky was here, and how wonderful the night air smelled. It was sort of sweet and crisp. Michael could not help but stare at the glow on her face as she spoke. He thought he could stay there all night and just watch her. He broke that train of thought and explained to her that he just wanted to say goodnight. She said that was a very sweet thing to do. He left and went to his own tent, noticing as he walked how sweet the air rally was to him, almost strange in a way.

Tuleal had made his rounds to each tent, except for Lorane’s. He made sure each person had what they needed to be as comfortable as possible for the night. He did not know why he chose Lorane’s tent to be the last, but he was on his way. He walked to the front of her tent, but he did not say a word, he froze. He could not understand this. This has never happened to him before.

Inside the tent, Lorane could sense the presence of someone outside her tent. She looked down and could see the darkness of his feet, because he wore no shoes. She instantly knew who it was. She spoke his name, Tuleal, and told him everything was great, and she was ready to get some sleep. Tuleal felt so embarrassed, but he managed a reply of okay Ms. Lorane, just checking. He walked away with his head hung low. He found his way to his own place of rest, which was nothing more than a mud house. He lived alone, but the houses were practically side-by-side that they looked like bedrooms connecting in a house.

Everyone slept while the moon was bright. However; Michael woke up in almost a sweat. He sat up feeling somewhat strange about waking up so suddenly. He tried to go back to sleep, but he could not, so he got up, put on his shoes and walked outside. There was a campfire still burning, not for warmth, but for light. When the moon is covered by a cloud , it gets pitch black, no light to be found anywhere. Michael was happy about their fire because at the moment, he could not see the moon. He felt so strange, he was wide awake.

Lorane, finding herself sitting up in bed wide awake, put her shoes on as well and came outside. She walked to the firelight and saw Michael sitting there. She went to sit next to him. Michael wishes the moonlight was still shining down, he would love to see Lorane with the light shining on her face. Michael has been in love with Lorane for years now. He has never told anyone this, especially Lorane. They both became engaged in a deep conversation about how they got started in there love for strange phenomena’s. Michael began by telling Lorane that since he was about ten years old his Uncle Harris had intrigued him so much by his love for it. Uncle Harris loved things like ghost tales and would seek out all he could find. That is where Michael started, with ghost hunts. Although he found that fascination, he wanted to see more. He went to college for _____________ and met Derrick. Derrick introduced him to a place where strange things were happening. That one was a real tricky experiment. They never quiet figured it out. The are still working on it to this day.

Lorane gasped at what he was saying because she too had a similar experience. She had an aunt, Aunt Betty, who was a psychic, and taught Lorane how to “zone” into them. Lorane absolutely loved it and found herself communicating everyday. She also went to college for _____________, and met a lady. Her name was Carissa. Carissa showed her many new things, but only things she had read about. This is the first time Lorane had really been involved in anything “real” or this big. She has only been reading and studying for years. Sitting here now with a big smile on her face she was so happy to be here.

It struck Michael as so intriguing that they had so much in common. This in turn put a smile on his face.

They talked for about an hour and decided they had better go back and try to get some sleep. Michael told Lorane goodnight and they parted ways.

Lorane went back to her tent, and as soon as her head hit the pillow, she was fast asleep.

Michael, lying on his cot, was noticing how calm he felt when all of a sudden he taken over by a peaceful sleep.

With the morning light also came a smell of sweet fragrance that brought everyone out of their tents.

Lorane made use of her was basin with the fresh water Tuleal had brought as she was sleeping, which must have been recent because it was still warm. She washed up and went to join the others.

They all found themselves surrounded by the wonderful smell of foot. There was a massive banquet of food five tables long. The did not know what all the food was, but it smelled so good that they knew they would want to try it all. That is just what they did. They were full and satisfied in the end.

After breakfast was over, Tuleal and the Americans sat together and talked about the upcoming day. Tuleal began by telling them that they would leave at precisely 7:00 a. m. the following day. It would take them about an hour and a half to travel there, and that would give them time to set up camp and get comfortable with there surroundings. He told them to make sure all their necessary things were packed and ready to go. They most likely would not have time to come back and retrieve them. After their instructions were given, they each went back to their tents to gather their necessary things, which was practically everything they had brought with them.

Lorane, being a girl, had a limited supply of “girl stuff”. she was a natural beauty that needed no make up. She just had moisturizer to keep he skin soft and supple. The guys seemed to have more supplies than she did. Lorane sat for a moment, thinking back on a conversation she had with Michael about six months ago. It was a spiritual conversation. They both were very spiritual and loved the Lord Jesus Christ. Michael had started the conversation by asking Lorane if she went to church. He thought he might know it since they lived in the same area of Nashville Tennessee. He did not recognize the name, but Lorane did know where his church was. She asked him if it was strange at all being in such a big place. She explained that she had always been more comfortable in a small setting with the original hymns, and being held accountable style preaching. Michael said he liked the style of preaching that was no so intimidating and did not scare people away. Lorane asked if learning about and living for God is not a process of love, joy, happiness, and yes, a respectful size of fear. Our God tells us that certain things are wrong and a sin, and we should fear if we do them. Yes, we are always forgiven, but there is always a consequence to the choice we make. Some new churches sugar coat this and people seem to not really get just how serious it is. He is not just a Sunday morning thing we happen to do once a week; he is Life! Michael agreed that this is true, and that some churched do put a very light play on what we are supposed to do. He explains that he loves the preaching by his pastor, but it can be a little light. There is not a lot of accountability for the believers or unbelievers. He admitted that he wanted more, and he would be searching for more. Lorane, of course, immediately invited him to her church for a visit. Michael eagerly agreed and quickly agreed.

Lorane snapped out of her thought and continued packing. She was practically done, just a couple more things to grab.

They packed five hum v type vehicles to get everyone and their belongings and supplies all at once. They were on their way. The long awaited place of beauty.

They began on a long windy and dusty road. They each had to wear a scarf over their nose and mouth. Sunglasses for each person provided relief for their eyes. The natives seemed to have no problem at all with the dust. They were accustomed to it all. The drivers would look back every now and then and make fun of the Americans.

Tuleal rode in the same vehicle as Lorane. He had a hard time taking his eyes off her. He thought there was a cuteness about her all wrapped up like she was. Michael glimpsed over at Tuleal as he was looking at Lorane. Michael could not believe that he had a feeling of jealousy. He asked himself where this feeling was coming from.

They continued on their way for another thirty minutes. They were almost there now. Tuleal looked back and told them they would be arriving soon. No on talked much because there was too much dust, and they all had scarves covering their nose and mouth. They were probably about twenty-five minutes away from where they would set up.

Lorane was so excited to start taking snap shots, she minored in photography in school. She thinks to herself and wonders if she brought all her different flashes. The rest of the ride she just sat back with a peaceful look on her face. She was so happy to be there. There were all sorts of animals running about all over the place. Lorane noticed that the shades of their color were strangely unique. She had not seen colors like that before. She pulled out her camera to hopefully capture the essence of the colors. She snapped about twenty pictures and put the camera back in her bag.

Tuleal turned around to announce they were only ten minutes away now. He found himself getting somewhat excited as well. A part of him wanted to show Lorane most of all how beautiful it was really going to be. He thought the beauty would have a hard time comparing to the beauty of Lorane. He wondered how perfect life would be if he could live with the love of Lorane in the beauty that is soon to come. He has not felt this way in such a long time. He has been through a heartbreak like no other. His heart was shattered into a million pieces when the love of his life, his wife mitricia, was killed by a wild beast. She loved all the wildlife and had adopted a _________________ when one day it became spooked and turned on her. The beast trampled her to death. Tuleal heard the scream of his wife, but he could not make it in time. By the time he got there, his wife’s face was almost unrecognizable. He felt his heart leave him, and he was changed forever. He has never loved again since that time. He never even thought it possible until he saw the face of Lorane. Her delicate, fiery spirit reminded him of his beloved Mitricia. He quickly snapped out of his thought when they hit a bump in the road and was thrust forward, all bumping into each other. He did not really mind having Lorane literally thrown into his arms. As he caught her, he looked into her eyes and asked if she was okay. She responded with a smile and a hug for “saving” her. She had been a little frightened by this.

Michael, on the other hand, was not so lucky as Tuleal. He was thrown into a big, burly tough looking guy. The biggest American they had brought with them no doubt. Everyone else in the vehicle found it to be very amusing. They laughed for ten straight minutes or so before they could stop. Michael thought thirty seconds would have been plenty. They settled back down and realized that they were very close to their site. The anticipation was really starting to get to Lorane. As they cam upon the site, each one of them, almost as if it was timed, had their mouths drop wide open. It was so beautiful. All that Lorane could thing was that the “special’ event had not even happened yet. On any ordinary day this would just have been any other field, but this was pure beauty, a gift from God in all its essence. It had a glow with a deep purple hue all around. The tall weeds slightly in the breeze, which was warm and soft to the skin.

When the vehicles stopped moving, they each just sat in their seat or stood where they were, they needed a moment to just take it all in. After about five minutes of taking it all in, they go out of the car and took a few steps. Each one of them stopped and turned to one another and just starred with awe.

Lorane asked Tuleal what on earth did she just feel? He just smiled back at her and said this is only the beginning. As soon as their feet touched the ground it sent a shock of tingling sensations through their bodies. It was a feeling that the truest form of ecstasy could never bring. They did not want it to stop although it made them very afraid in a strange way.

After gathering themselves from this moment of excitement they started walking around to get a feel for their new environment . They did not notice anything different about the way things looked, just any ordinary field that one might see in the wilderness.

Lorane could not get over how beautiful it was. All of a sudden in the midst, she could see a strange creature running all around, which on any other day she would just have thought it was a very unique animal. The animal was overgrown in size and its back legs were bent forward in such a way that Lorane wondered how it ran so fast. She thought it had to be running at least twenty-five miles per hour. Its fur was a light auburn brown with a shine that looked like silk. All at once, when Lorane thought the animal had ran away, it appeared straight in front of her. Oh! The beauty, she thought. The eyes were big and oval shaped with lashes as long as her fingers. They were brown but not just any brown. Theses were almost transparent, mesmerizing to Lorane.

Lorane turned around to find Michael starring at her. He could not believe what luck she had to have such a wonderful experience happen to her. She could not utter a sound, she was flabbergasted. Tuleal came over and said something that really made them both smile with a little awe. Tuleal said don’t be too overwhelmed, the rest will only amaze you more. Lorane smiled with pure delight.

The team continued on to set up a place for the station. They had huge tents that covered at least 2200 sq. ft. It seemed as if the Americans had brought everything one could possible imagine with them. They had all the scientific equipment, cameras, measuring devices and so much more only they could know how and what to use it for. They also brought tents for sleeping. They noticed that Tuleal and his crew brought no tents or anything for sleeping. Lorane asked why this was, and he only said life is simple. We are life and life is us. We have all that we need just as we are. We have streams for washing and bathing and tree bark for our teeth and mint for our breath. What else do we need? Lorane agreed but the entire time knowing she needed more.
