Goodbye Blue Sky

Goodbye Blue Sky

A Poem by Eric Cox

I was young and the skies were blue
clouds were seldom and few
life was full of hope
it was easy to cope
I lived near Mother Nature
the woods and meadows were my treasure
each day was crystal clear
no fog to hover and sheer
until things slowly fell apart
and a clear course I could not chart
fog covered the blue
I couldn't break through
now each day tears of lost life I cry
goodbye blue sky

I like the use of the blue sky to make your point in the poem. Your words are true. When we are content. All things are more beautiful. Sadness bring blindness to the good in a life. Thank you for sharing the excellent poem.

This is so haunting... innocence melting into anguish... the pure joy of life being strangled by the fingers of age... How I hope there can be a lifting wind to turn this tide...

This shows the pain of loss which results in the loss of hope. Mourning what one had and now has lost seems to be part of the human condition through the ages. This pain in this is very powerful, it almost seems to leap of the page (screen here!) making it very real for the reader. You did an amazing job on this poem Eric.
