A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

a menu of malfeasance

you convey refined neglect

courteous insult of silence

i reset the table of emotions

with backward diligence

and forward glance

but you still refuse proper placement

of happenstance,

a napkin of nimble notice

never reaches the lap

of endearment

and once again

i sit alone

politely imbibing

my glass of nothing.

not the first time to sit in silence and once again, an attempt is made to look past those previous infractions of expected etiquette, only to be denied common courtesy...clever title and great write

It's curious how the mark of a good relationship and a bad relationship can be the same. Sitting in silence. Only in a good relationship, the silence isn't so loud.
I enjoyed the read.
