a cigarette with morning coffee

a cigarette with morning coffee

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

a cigarette with morning coffee

undressing shadows

to naked abandoning

sun makes love to day

I'm trying to keep my eyes closed (give them some privacy) but it is just so wonderful to see.... we are all voyuers to mornings affair I think... very nicely done Jacob...

Never been a smoker Jacob and I don't drink coffee either. I do know how powerful that cigarette and coffee can be though, especially after a meal. Can relax the mind. Smokers who give up always miss that.

Its been ten years for me too and I don't miss them. The poem had romantic images for me, very clever and sweet on the play of shade and light overtones.

thank you for your insightful words...

It's not going to happen that way, you know? There will be an undressing of cigarettes and they will abandon the coffee. The sun is just a material witness for the defense of willful nakedness. Sometimes your poetry is like the inside of an cold cup... a small insect traverses the lip with random appreciation for the savory lip drool.
