love needs no bow

love needs no bow

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

love needs no bow

trope reindeer

early Christmas

a rooftop full of dreams

and chimneys of stardust

and yet the sled is greased with greed

fortunes in sacks that won't fit in the edifice

and there will be no snowy

morning of smiles

when the dam of fortune implodes

we are left with empty wrappings

and bows, the friends we threw away

the day after the yule tide blew in harshly

the glitter of the stardust

disintegrated in our gift strewn hearts.

not a problem sir....
Love needs no bow. How powerful! No wrapping paper or ribbons just the joy of each other, the truly caring. You are soooooooo right - there is no need for a bow.

Take care - Dave

That's all very well and good Jacob, BUT I WANT MORE SHINY SHINY! Okay, I feel bad for the people and kids in sweatshops knocking all this stuff out, but I'm used to the shiny and need more.

(Do sweatshop kids even get Xmas day off?)

They probably have a more honest review of our western ways than we care to think of.
This really keep my mind ruminating over the matter you just pointed out here.
I'm just still pondering hard at the magnitude of its effect on me.

Well written, Jacob.

'the friends we threw away the day after yule tide blew in harshly'

That line speaks to me. Maybe it is regret that when the going started to get tough, insufficient effort was put in to try and salvage the situation. Maybe there was some obstinacy there, and neither party was prepared to back down and the relationship imploded. That's where you took me Jacob. Sad poem.
