I love every single line, each presenting yet another thought-provoking way to visualize what you're throwing down. Your poem reminds me of how two people might cling together despite imperfections becuz any lasting port in this storm is exactly what's treasured these days (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Seems like this pattern of love was worn out over time, yet even still as those candles mourn the end, the flame still flickers for what once was. This reminded me of my Grandmother's old knitting escapades and the somewhat ill fitting (and sometimes horrendous) patterns she would come up with....but all put together with love, and so it is with some relationships. Some patterns just do not go well together. An excellent metaphor for love, relations and their endings, J! :)))

relationships are complex but in or out they always leave their mark upon us and have us pondering. like an enigma wrapped in a conundrum. your words echo this reality. do we pull them closer or push them away. shakespeare said to be or not to be. perhaps your cogent ending holds a clue to letting go whilst still basking in the afterglow - easier said than done of course as you so soberingly remind ... :)
Patterns of love are not repeated and often not meant to be. Those candles still flicker in our hearts...just a tad. We mourn the end of a relationship even when we know we are better off leaving. One of the many conundrums of life is why we end up in bad relationships. Must be chemistry....I always hated that subject! :) I liked this one, Jacob. Lydi**
