i think i saw Emily's Coursers the other night

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

i think i saw Emily's Coursers the other night

i saw some poems skinny dipping

on a lake of stone dry dialect

unabashed

they frolicked

in sync

irrational behavior

suicidal endeavor

happy deaths by moonlight

bodies glistening with garrulous

gait

more like iambic horses

galloping

naked cheers for lines in arrears

owing a muse, watching silently

until all the poems

suddenly stopped

and dressed silently

seriously

looking for another verse

to dive into...

Emily and I know her to be your favourite poet. Skinny dipping poems is quite something and then for them to stop and get dressed. You have an incredible way with words. She is remembered for a reason. You brought her back to us and I am thankful for that Jacob.

Thank you, Chris...I appreciate you and your kindness.

dearest Jacob... when a Doctor of Medicine... where Roger takes Dialysis...
questioned my prowness in poetry... asked me "who is your favorite Poet?"...
I answered proudly-- Emily Dickinson. "Hope is the thing with feathers that perches in the Soul".
Now the esteemed Doctor only smiles on my persona of poetry. (Persona--- Latin for Mask).
truly, Pat

You make magic out of letters, sir! You've brought that incredible woman to life present, carrying both her subtlety and powerful phrasing to a point that few could. She had, has, a way of introducing action.. yes, like creatures on the move.. and then, wraps the lot into an oasis of gentle pleasure.

Guess Emily's poetry, writing, covered each colour of the literary rainbow - truth be known.. and is. Great poem, j., thank you as ever for sharing.

thank you for your kind review, em,
j.
your title hit me ..."coursers" .. such an old and powerful word ... "a swift horse" ... time dates Emily from the start perhaps .. not much of a linguist ;} great word tho. Emily's words were certainly such animals .. we do share a love of her work with a whole lot of people don't we?! I just enjoyed every bit of your poem ..the frenetci activity in V2 ..like buzzing electrons and neutrons .. smashing into one another at times "happy deaths by moonlight" man! what can i say .. just killer, jacob! and the tribute you pay her "... like iambic horses
galloping" so glad you shared and do share your poetry ... right here at the Cafe' .. well done says i .. its the good stuff!
