there is no god ... we should stand at the alter of denial and accept that we have avoided.
the 2nd stanza is perhaps your strongest write. perhaps mistaken we be? there is plenty of lead in your pencil. thanks
Maybe, just maybe we'll wisen up. We take all that has been given to us for granted. Too few of us look out for our "Home" without which we could not exist. I don't believe that God gave it to us to destroy, it is His much more than ours. Perhaps once again, He'll get tired of our screwing things up.

I totally agree, Dave, with all you have said here.
thank you so much,

I do believe Jacob, nature will outlast us.
"the trees burn, then bow
then become ash
dead Sequoias
tall as mountains
when spring ripens
on
the pleading trees"
I liked the above lines. I saw Big Sur rebirth after the fires in one year. We need mother nature more than she needs us. thank you for sharing the amazing poetry and your thoughts.

A very wise poem. Creation has to suffer for their rebellion, for getting out of line, for temptations, for curiosity...whatever the case, we need to be careful, to not fall into traps, to live righteously and purposefully. Hard to do in many ways but we can try.
