Eyesore buildings....what a perfect way to describe them! Unsightly eruptions. We were not supposed to become this menace we became in 10,000 years. How will one ever ride into the sunset happily?
(when they shoot horses that quit dancing on the rooves of eyesore buildings.) What ARE we doing to this beautiful planet and where will in heaven's name it end? Good writing as usual my friend. ~Sharon

thank you for your kind review, Sharon...
Yes, where will it end?

Interesting imagery in this one. I can identify with its essence. Just down the road from me, a greenspace inhabited by deer was razed to make room for an office building. Not a skyscraper, mind you, but the principle is similar. Developers rule.

Greed and business create corruption. We can see it. I saw it today with the addition of another new home in an already crowded borough. Politicians change stance when the envelope full of money talks.
I guess wherever you go it's the same. Those elephants are getting bigger amd multiplying.
I've been reading lots of good poetry today and here's another one! My thought was the elephant in the room is the current social condition. Skyscrapers empty of commerce. A dead jungle and only monkeys climb the streets.
What an incredible poem, written with your forever skills. Here above you make both subtle and mint essential comparisons; point out the missing Past and the misused, abused Present. The Natural world and its blessed possessions are being scraped off the planet as if unessential nothings.. how evil is that. And to think - if we believe, that it took time before Mankind came into being.. Thus surely what came before must have been a hell of a lot more essential.
' the chatter monkeys
oblivious to the real matter
say we matter not
eyesore buildings
stretch to sky's
inherent blue haze
they disappear
over the horizon, '
Everything has changed and not for the better. We think we are so clever in our vast achievements that I see only as clutter and unnecessary. What a strange virus we are, the only kind that destroys to construct for no other purpose than to say “see what I can do?” Instead of just live and die as minimalist and just enjoy the view in between. Excellent write
so clever. my dad said "eyesore" quite a bit - one of his favorite words. what's another tract of woods when we can make room for a mall. jeff bezos and wall street changed that but they'll just chop 'em down anyway and build something else. do they still use horses for glue ... :)

I am for you, Sir...and this insight...
thank you,

The word play of your title is brilliant. When I walk on the beach, I remember what used to be along the shore. Now there are hundreds of skyscrapers blocking my view of the blue sky. Great reference to Hemingway. Then of course, there is the reference to the elephant in the room. Many layers in this one. I liked it. Lydi**
