eyesaw

eyesaw

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

eyesaw

I saw

eyesore buildings

in a wood that no longer exists

I pictured huge trunks

White Elephants wandering the landscape

showing us who we are

there is one in every room

of the eyesore buildings

the ivory towers of wealth

a jungle of repetition

the chatter monkeys

oblivious to the real matter

say we matter not

eyesore buildings

stretch to sky's inherent blue haze

they disappear

over the horizon,

riding the White Elephants into the sunset

maybe one Hemingway created

on his way to Spain

when they shoot horses

that quit dancing

on the rooves

of eyesore buildings.

We have taken away the natural habitat of animals and birds by the desecration of their environment. Instead of living with them side by side we have stamped our footprint all over them. Our species only seems interested in financial gain. What a pathetic state of affairs. Strong write J.

This is so thought provoking. A very considered piece of writing. I really appreciate the way you remind us of what we have lost and continue to lose - all for what?

yes, the places that aren't places...in the world, in the heart.
thank you, Chris,

It is sad to think of all the animals homes are being taken by mankind. Your poem hits hard for a good reason.

If only our Leaders could love Sycamore trees where Birds sing on branches safe from the Storm. We live in a Tree House high up in the Sky. It is truly a Prelude to Heaven. Your Poem has captured my "sadness" of the Inhumane Wars. Do they believe that if they do into others ... harm... they may receive the same.. or do they have a death wish. Amen
