A theme of such proportion in a senryu, epic brevity. This punctuates every thought and idea. There is a hard hitting message and appraisal from Above, for sure.

My first reaction was that this one refers to Ukraine. That may be true, but it could just as easily describe any modern war.

And they say Senryu should be of the foibles of man. Would God still need to frown if not for man?

War....what is it good for....absolutely nothing. I am sure you remember that song as I do from the 70's. If one believes in a higher power, it is difficult to understand why this annihilation is happening. So much said here, Jacob. Lydi**

thank you sonnie,

I remember a movie of some sort where a man questions God and asks Him, "Why do You allow such suffering and misery on the earth?" And God replies, "Why do you? It's your earth, I put you in charge of it." It appears to me that, we, as a species, are poor stewards with what we have been entrusted with.

I felt like I heard the voice of Morgan Freeman speaking out the lines of God's reply. Mmm...
A painful topic to address but you nail it with this.

Oh my, how this hurts the heart. Yes, that final line very impactful, as much as the bombardment of encampments. Wreckage, death, destruction and broken hearts.

Perfect senryu Jacob. I especially am drawn to the closing line. I can only imagine God's disappointment in man at this point in time. ~Sharon
