holding a sign with a slip knot faith

holding a sign with a slip knot faith

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

holding a sign with a slip knot faith

it's too windy to poem
gusts of regurgitation
of sad digestion
bad love does not sit well in the heart

but no medicine cures that
only time
but even in perfect doses
time fails

even as the dose is doubled
writing a tragic love poem in a calm cubicle
keeps words from flying off a page
but we still hear the wind

the sound is a haunting echo intrepid faith
in bonding

might as well let go
the clasp might just kill both of us
passion was never enough to really tie a firm knot

I am tossing myself into the air
waving at you

and when the gusts do subside
the momentum has already
crossed us over to oblivion's corner

where we clasp a sign for help
knowing our hand will never hold
that lover's again.

That last tercet really hits with power. It brings to a sharp point all of the pain that was building up through the previous verses. It makes us feel that pain.

I do agree Jacob.

Easy to release, hard to grasp again. Thank you my friend for sharing the amazing poetry.

Thank you for your kind review, Coyote,

At least sign holders get paid; not our poet though. Advertising the hurt and pain can be a marketing purge; might be good to showcase it in NY for the world to see in Times Square.
Wow!

Hehehe! You are welcome sir Jacob.
I am tossing myself into the air
waving at you

I sense frustration here. I see someone vying for attention and not getting it. Love knots are preferable to slip knots. Aren’t they noose like? Some relationships are doomed to die. This sounds like one of them. Dear j, there is much to think about here.

bad love does not sit well in the heart - never a truer word said.

I find there are times when no wind brings anything but poetic frustration ... fortunately the words occasionally storm on their own. ~Jim
