A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

uncredited

an old TV show
pretty little woman
fancy's up

locks of hair conveniently
placed
perfect set

she is consumed
with confining
herself to constraint

she is loved for her submission
a poem for the judges to love
because she fits herself on the page

in between the males' fingers
manipulated
formed into compliance

appearing in the credits
as the heroine---but
in the poem

as a minor character
gradually edited out.

Thank you, poetgurl,
j.
This holds deeper meaning me thinks. Have we not all been this soul. Whether by chauvinism, prejudice, economic discrimination or whatever ignored, pushed back, hidden and expected to conform giving credit for what one does to higher ups. Yes I also remember watching these old TV series and movies and at time gave little thought to this as I am sure most give little thought to its other forms today. Nicely done Jacob

yes, and thank you for your insights, Soren,

They say give credit where credit is due because at least they didn't ask for cash. Smile. "Roller Girl, don't worry. DJ play the movies all night long." from "Skateaway" But maybe there comes a time for all of us when we don't want to be the star, like Garbo. I liked this, F.

Have you heard "Just like Greta" by Van Morrison? Great song but I've always loved Van's music.

I will look that one up...don't remember it, but I, too, love Van's music...pretty much all of it..... read more
I like this. In mine, she is the opposite : a minor character in the film, but quite the star of the subsequent poetry. Kudos. ~Jim
