God Games

by Erin L George

God just smiled at me

he winked through the man on the moon

who nodded twice

when I blinked.

I didn't know whether to smile back

feeling silly with this game

I looked around the neighborhood

(completely new)

and decided what the hell?

I winked back twice - to be sure

and nodded toward the moon.

I wonder:

Does God play games with the stars?

Jacks, pick up sticks, hopscotch?

I smiled back at him

and I'm sure I heard him chuckle.

Parchessi? Anyone?

nice, a little confusing but good

The theme of God being personal, intimate and involved while being unobtrusive is wonderful. You have opened the door to how to become aware of God's presence if there is an aptitude and desire. I enjoyed this piece.
