Wolf Girl

Wolf Girl

A Poem by Erin Lee

Wolf Girl

She never spoke, instead flirted with stars

counting them, but not in numbers.

Nature's unnatural experiment.

Oh, wild child, speak to us!

Tell us: What is it to be human?

Do you know sadness behind tears?

A feral child, making whiskey of raindrops -

inebriated on thunder's dare.

Nature's jilted jinx.

Oh, wild child, drink our milk!

Tell us: How does it taste?

Is it better warm from the nip?

Her thirst for love was desert dry

not knowing the colors of Springtime.

Nature's gunea pig.

Oh, wild child, come and peek!

Tell us: What do you see?

Shall we blindfold you?

Will you never speak?

This was excellently written. I am in love with wolves and if you believe everyone has an animal that goes with their personality, mine is... A wolf. Go figure. But I greatly enjoyed your poem. It shows the pains of being an outcast and what it is like to be separated. Great job.

I loved the first line. It intruiged me and carried me on down to the very end where I complement you dearly.

I love the feeling of everlasting, but seeming eternal lonliness that strikes the reader and emphasizes a saddening, but delightful mood.

The pains of outcasting is portrayed wonderfully and I have really enjoyed this.
