Behind the Maple

By Erin L George

She

watched him,

perched round side

the maple tree -

her lips taunt and mean -

twisting like a pretzel.

She cursed her own need to see

him loving another woman,

gripping tight upon her urge to sneeze

tucked behind that unintended maple tree.

The tree reached high into the clouds above,

its leaves formed a happy canopy -

as much as any girl could need -

for spying on a lover.

Salty tears upon her lips

kissed her certain fate.

The boy leaned in

for his own

kissing

date.

well maybe they should chop down all the maple trees ...
this is a wonderful Etheree, though sad for the girl who is
witnessing this secret act of kissing ...
true to form :)

well crafted!

I have never read a poem in this form before. I quite enjoyed yours. The words gave perfect images; I could see the maple tree as I read. Very nice read.
